If you do want to grind, fight rabble rousers and rabid dogs near Everton at night. Do a few quests in the starting region and you'll have battled enough to get to 元. To raise your char level, you don't have to grind. And equip him with a magic staff that does nice ranged damage. Train early for cheap! And the more you practice them in battle the higher they get.ģ- For the shaman specifically, try to get a couple of your guys to 元, especially your mage. Something you may find impossible at L2 becomes easy at 元Ģ- skills are very useful, especially dodge for those who wear less than 9 weight. Also your fundamental strategic outlook is correct.ġ- leveling up is a huge boost. You have a spot for a 3rd mage, and you'll be set. You'll end up going back a few times to the same areas (like Grymvi's Keep!), exploring more and more of it, before finally completing a particular quest. This was initially frustrating to me (even as one of the developers!) because I figured I would get the quests in a logical order of when they could be completed. Rather than grinding, just head off to another area and explore. So, as I'm sure you've discovered, it's easy to get into a region where you're in over your head. It's tricky because Nox Archaist doesn't use level scaling. In Knaerwood and Bayport you can also pick up training for your characters. Also, explore Bayport - there are at least 2 quests there that are fairly straightforward. If you haven't already, visit Knaerwood (in the east), then maybe Maldac. You don't need to grind, but by going to different towns, you'll naturally run into monsters and get more experience. If I remember, I had 2 "mage"-type characters and cast fireballs on the ogres until I ran out of magic points.īut regardless of the Orc Shaman, I would suggest visiting some other places first. I also think that I targeted the ogres first, since they are so deadly with their giant boulders. I can't exactly recall what level my characters were, but it was somewhere between levels 2 and 3. The longer answer is that you're absolutely right, that Orc Shaman battle is tough. The short answer is "no", you shouldn't need to grind.
